Flu vaccination provides the best protection against an unpredictable virus that infects many people each year & can cause serious illness & death. If you will be aged 50 or over on 31st March 2022, are pregnant or a carer for an elderly or disabled person, or have a qualifying long term health condition, you are eligible to receive a free NHS flu jab. For more information, please visit www.nhs.uk/flujab
Chapel Lane/Hollies/Hightown Surgery has already purchased flu vaccines for our eligible patients this year. We are working with other Southport & Formby GP Surgeries in Southport and Formby Primary Care Network to be able to offer Covid booster vaccines at the same time. All vaccinations will be supervised by a GP. Please support the surgery by booking your flu jab with us. We will be in touch very soon with further details.
In previous years, some patients have avoided having their flu vaccination at the surgery for fear of taking up an appointment. On the contrary - we are keen to vaccinate all our eligible patients! We have to purchase our flu jabs almost a year in advance to secure an early delivery date & protect our patients as early as possible, which is a significant financial risk. Thank you in anticipation of your continued support.
We are proud of how successful our flu jab campaign is every year, thanks to our staff and patients alike. We also provide the nasal flu vaccine to pre-school children who are aged 2 or 3 on 31st August 2021, & as an alternative to a jab for most other children who qualify. Our vaccines are the most up to date ones recommended by the NHS, so offer the best protection against this condition, which still hospitalises or kills many people every year.
Vaccines help prevent illness & reduce NHS winter pressures. Please ask our reception about pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccination if you are aged 65+ & shingles vaccination if you are aged 70+. Thank you for helping us to help you stay well this winter.
